       Personal     Statement Guidelines

       The personal statement         is  an  important    document     that  helps   us  to  get acquainted     with  you   as a   person. We     advise
       you    to  take   time   to  reflect  on   your   values,   motivations     and   personal    goals   before   you   start   writing.  Don’t    feel
       pressured to     search for remarkable and         distinctive   experiences     to display. More so than the         experiences themselves,
       we    are  interested    in how    they   influenced    you   and  the   insights   that  you   gained   from    them.   The   essay    should   be
       written    by  you,   and   not  “coached”    so   that  we   can   hear   your   own   thoughts    and   words.    Please   carefully   note   the
       instructions below as you prepare to begin writing.


       * Please write two essays, of slightly different lengths, as specified below.


       *  As   part   of  the   application   process,    all applicants    to  Underwood      International    College    are  required    to  submit    a
       personal statement       through the Jinhak Apply website, which must be written in English.


       *  The    purpose   of  the personal statement is to          present activities     and   experiences     that took place during your         high
       school enrollment.      Therefore,     including awards or       extracurricular    activities that    are  strongly associated      with   private
       education—such       as   academic     competitions,    Olympiads,     or   activities   conducted    outside    of  school—may       result   in  a
       disadvantage during the evaluation process.


       *  Avoid    including   your   name,    school,   or  details  about   your   family’s   socio-economic       background—such        as  relatives’
       names, workplaces, or job titles—as this may negatively affect your evaluation.


       We    are  excited    to  have   the  opportunity    to  read   your   personal    statement    and   learn  more    about   you.   Rest   assured
       that   your   writing    will  be  kept    confidential   and   will  only   be   used    for  screening    and   instructional    purposes.    We
